Questions you need to answer about your internet speed

What download and upload speed should you get from your provider?

Is your download and upload speed the same wired as wireless?

If you are having problems with your modem/router combo its time to buy a third party router.

STOP THINKING YOU DO NOT NEED A HIGHER PERFORMANCE ROUTER, ALMOST EVERY NEW PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY YOU BUY WILL USE WIRELESS. SPEND A LITTLE MONEY, SAVE YOURSELF FROM HEADACHES, AND WASTING YOUR  TIME.

Three Asus routers I recommend:

Asus RT-N66U

  • Small house or apartment
  • 1500 sq feet or less

Asus RT-AC68U

  • House with more that 5 wireless devices
  • 2000 sq feet or less

Asus RT-AC87U

  • House with 10 wireless devices or more
  • 3000 sq feet or less

I have used each one of these routers and have had very good luck with the longevity and performance of these products. I currently use Asus RT-AC87U modem because I run more the 10 wireless products in my house. These routers also have great traffic management software and will out perform every modem/router combo.

After you buy a third party router. Ask your internet provider to bridge your modem/router combo (turns your modem/router just into modem).
